The New World Order as a Satanic Plot

Prof. Johan Malan, University of the North, South Africa

Satan’s plot against man and his God-given freedom started in the Garden of Eden when, through religious deception, he offered to him an alternative kingdom which was based on lies.

God created man as a biological, intellectual and spiritual being with a free will. As Creator He laid down rules for the personal life, family life and national life of human beings. From the beginning, God’s order for nations was full self-determination and the maintaining of their identity within a constitutional, cultural and religious framework in which His sovereignty is recognised, His laws and precepts are honoured, and the moral and ethical principles of His kingdom are strictly adhered to. This amounts to a theocratic dispensation in which the worship of God and the observance of His rules for humanity should be the highest ideal.

With a view to the execution of these duties God gave authority to family and state heads. As part of man’s responsibilities, God also subjected the natural creation to him that he may subdue it and have dominion over it (Gen. 1:28). All persons and institutions of authority in human society are hereby made accountable to God, who holds the position of supreme authority in His creation. However, from the beginning, man with his free will had the choice to be either obedient to God and serve Him, or to reject His ordering of things and thereby rebel against Him. For his disobedience man would pay a very costly price in forfeiting the favour and blessings of God – thereby causing incalculable damage to himself and his descendants.

People who do not worship and serve their Creator by despising Him and rejecting His laws, have no right of existence on earth as they are under the judgements and wrath of God. He can end their rebellion immediately by judging them as in the days of Noah and Lot, He may postpone the outpouring of His wrath to the coming Day of the Lord during the great tribulation, or to the Day of Judgement when the wicked of all ages will be resurrected and judged by confining them to a place of eternal damnation away from the presence of God.

The tragic history of humanity through the centuries was one of disobedience to God. It was not the will of God that man should fall into sin and iniquity, and for that reason God did not foreordain the Fall. Man was deceived by Satan. With his free will and contrary to his better judgement he yielded to Satan’s big plot against God and His creation and in consequence received a darkened, sinful nature and also died spiritually. Adam’s spiritual attributes as a sinful man were inherited by his descendants on earth, rendering all of them sinful people with an natural disposition away from God and His righteousness. That is the reason why Satan has so much success in deceiving people individually, in a family context, in a national context, an also on a global scale to further acts of rebellion and disobedience to God.

From this spiritually and morally depraved condition people are called by God out of darkness into His marvellous light (1 Pet. 2:9). Through repentance and rebirth we are endowed with the divine nature of the second Adam, Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:12-21). Thereafter we should immediately start establishing and extending God’s kingdom in our personal lives, the lives of our families, and also in our national life (government, education, etc.).

In the Old Testament we read about many individuals and families, and also about one nation, Israel, who were part of God’s kingdom and were called to walk as children of the light by prevailing against the kingdom of Satan with his temptations and evil schemes. The bigger the group, the more often they strayed from God’s ways and again became entangled in sin and unrighteousness. To the people of Israel, God explained the conditions for their spiritual restoration from a backslidden state as follows: “If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).

When Israel, as God’s chosen people, humbled themselves before the Lord, it usually started with the king as head of state. He then called on the priests and the entire nation to repent and consecrate themselves to the Lord. Such actions of national repentance and rededication to the Lord occurred during the reign of David, Asa, Jehoshaphat and Hezekiah. These revivals usually only lasted for one generation – the next generation again backsliding into idolatry and sin. During the time of Elijah the spiritual depravity in Israel was so intense and widespread that in a nation of a few million people there were only 7000 who have not bowed the knee to Baal (1 Kings 19:18).

The same rule applies to families. Every member should settle his/her case with the Lord as membership of God’s kingdom is not inherited from previous generations. It is a common phenomenon that within the same family one finds saved and unsaved members. In the first family, that of Adam and Eve, Cain became the first murderer and Abel the first martyr for his faith. Various heroes of faith through the centuries had believing as well as unbelieving children. Just think of the righteous king David and his wicked son, Absalom.

In the light of the above-mentioned facts, Satan’s strategy is clear: He endeavours to get as many as possible people in his power to ensure that most of the families in a community are also the victims of spiritual deception. From this point he moves to the level of the national government in an effort to ensure that the head of state and his officials are also apostate people. If he succeeds in these efforts, it stands to reason that antichristian constitutions, policies and educational systems will be enforced on the entire nation. The further the movement to apostasy and false religions, the firmer the grip of Satan becomes on the whole nation.

The devil also focuses his attention on the higher level of global affairs. It is clearly his final objective to gain full control over the world and all its inhabitants by having an antichristian dictator appointed as head of a world government. When such a government is established it represents a new world order in which an ideology of globalism in association with a false religion is enforced upon all nations. The Babylonian empire of Nimrod and the building of the tower of Babel was the first apostate world empire in the history of humanity. Because the nations have no sovereignty under the reign of a world government they can be manipulated and controlled at will by a mighty dictator.

Wicked dictators not only deny the right of the nations to self-determination, but they also deny the sovereignty of God as they wish to be worshipped themselves as gods who are masters of the world’s destiny. Since 1990, various countries have followed the example of America and the influence of the United Nations to reject the supreme authority of God by adopting humanistic constitutions in which no mention is made of the Triune God’s position in relation to the state. South Africa is also one of the countries in which the Christian-national principle and the sovereignty of God are denied by adopting a constitution in which the state has the highest authority in human affairs, while all religions are regarded to be of equal significance. Christianity is, therefore, reduced to the level of the non-Christian religions.

If the earlier communist expansion is taken into account, at least 44 countries have declared themselves to be secular states in the 20th century. In all cases it gave rise to restrictive legislation and the persecution of their subjects. More than 160 million people died in the 20th century in secular states at the hands of their own governments. It is incomprehensible that the nations, in spite of all the negative evidence, have reverted to secular constitutions at the end of the 20th century!

It is in a time such as this that Psalm 2 will be finally fulfilled:

“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Christ), saying, Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Now therefore, be wise o kings; be instructed you judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Ps. 2:1-12).

According to verse 2, the nations are engaged in an open campaign against God and the Lord Jesus. They deny God’s sovereignty and bring other gods before Him. They also reject a Christian worldview, the atoning death of Jesus on the cross, Christian education, a Christian moral code, etc. They do not regard themselves bound to these facts and institutions and see Christian principles as a hindrance in their drive for humanistic freedom. They say: “Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.” To them, the rejection of God and the Christian faith will bring about true liberty, equality and brotherhood among all people!

But God explicitly says that He anointed His Son, Jesus Christ, as King of the world and gave the nations as His inheritance (v. 7-8). Should they rise against Him He will destroy them (v. 9). The same fate that befell all the previous world governments who rejected and opposed God will be the part of the present, godless governments and their subjects. Terrible judgements are awaiting them because it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Heb. 10:31). If they proceed with their rejection of the true Christ, they will inevitably receive the Antichrist as world ruler. Together with him, as part of his military dictatorship, they will fight against the true Christ when He comes to establish His kingdom on Mount Zion in Israel. The Antichrist and his deceived followers will be destroyed when the King, Jesus Christ, comes:

“And I saw the beast [Antichrist], the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him [Christ] who sat on the horse and against His army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh” (Rev. 19:19-21).

Won’t the governments of the nations, including the South African government that also follows the way of the rejection of the Triune God and the dishonouring of His Name by reducing Him to the level of the idols, rather accept a friendly but serious warning? “Be wise o kings; be instructed you judges of the earth” (Ps. 2:10). The judges who assist in the enforcing of antichristian constitutions and other laws by which whole nations become apostate, will be held accountable by God for their conspiracy against Him and His Word.

To them all, the psalmist says: “Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling” (Ps. 2:11). The kings and judges should fear and honour God, thereby setting a good example to the citizens of their country. Should they neglect to fulfil this basic duty, they can expect big problems: “Kiss the Son (be reconciled to Jesus Christ), lest He be angry, and you perish in the way when His wrath is kindled but a little” (Ps. 2:12).

A person, group or country that takes refuge with the Lord by recognising Him and truly believing in Him is called blessed and happy: “Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Ps. 2:12). During New Testament times, there were various nations with Christian constitutions through which recognition was given to God by the government and all its institutions. Since its establishment the United States of America had a Christian constitution for 200 years up to 1990, and developed into the most powerful nation on earth. However, in 1990 they adopted a secular constitution in which the God of the Bible is not honoured as the highest authority and in which all religions are regarded to be of equal significance. In this way, the USA has chosen the downward course to ultimate self-destruction.

The new South Africa made the same, tragic mistake by turning their backs on the Triune God of the Bible. In a similar way all other nations are collaborating to pave the way for an antichristian new world order which will be pagan to its roots. Ideological brainwashing such as the following does not only occur in South Africa but everywhere in the world:

·        Internationalism cannot triumph while nationalism still functions strongly. For that reason, cultural or national allegiance should be regarded as less important and replaced by a wider vision of planetary citizenship.

·        Unity cannot be achieved as long as divisions, boundaries and group associations are not scaled down, abandoned and allowed to be superseded by the building of bridges of unity. Groups should never be exclusive but open, tolerant and accommodating in relation to other groups.

·        An alliance of religions cannot be established while there is still strong prejudice against this idea. All churches and religions should be equalised and become members of ecumenical structures in which they can collaborate as equal partners and thus become more closely associated on their way to ultimate unity.

·        The ideal of religious unity will only be achieved if the adherents of all faiths adopt the belief that they all worship the same God (universalism). Then, they can all be gathered around the same world messiah who will be the cosmic christ of all religions.

·        Education should be multireligious in all countries in order that the young generation could be brought up in terms of the inclusive and multireligious ideology of the new world order. Christian education which is not outspokenly ecumenical should be phased out by all governments because it is viewed to be fundamentalist, exclusive and intolerant.

·        Political ideologies and constitutions should not give any recognition to the Triune God of Christianity, as it would degrade and exclude other faiths and will therefore not be acceptable to the cosmic christ of all faiths. Constitutions should be secular or multireligious.

All these propagandistic statements form an inherent part of the preparations and mindset for the Antichrist’s world state. Those of us who have the light of Christ should let it shine. Even if the whole country falls into apostasy by denying the Lord Jesus and rejecting His Word, we can never become part of the antichristian reforms. We should contend earnestly for the faith which was once delivered to the saints. This is the only message that can save and change a lost world. If the world, and also our own country, reject this message we should follow the example of Joshua when he addressed his idolatrous contemporaries as follows: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Jos. 24:15).

When other religions and antichristian ideas are promoted in a country and its educational system, we should stick to our convictions and take suitable steps to ensure that we provide a Christian environment for the education of our children, in which they will be safeguarded against deception. We should realise that when we are taking actions of this nature our convictions should be strong as we will have to take a stand against a formidable force of postmodern thought entertained by the world at large. The Lord Jesus warned us against opposition of this nature: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (Jn. 16:33). He is the Conqueror who will soon return to destroy the antichristian new world order and replace it by a Christian new world order.
